This beautiful female Red Tail Hawk was attempting to flush a rabbit out of some dense brush. The red tail is the largest hawk we have in the area and is a member of the group of hawks known as the buteos. These heavy bodied birds are large enough to take rabbits and have even been known to take down a turkey.
